My husband and I relocated to the DEEP south. The South is known for the unhealthy habit of putting too much sugar in foods which is ironic because I only eat processed sugar on special occasions. I'm a stevia gal. The portions of food are big here...as the South is also known for its hospitality. I was born in the deep South in Alabama though raised in Texas, so I'm very happy being back down South. My husband loves the food and the hospitality here which I'm sooo happy about. Total strangers talk to you while you are in line checking out at the grocery store, and people wave to you when you are stopped at a red light on the road. The most important factor is the blessings that God is giving us. It is very peaceful and joyous here. The thought occurred that these are 2 fruits of the spirit. No place on Earth is great now, but this is definitely more our speed.
It usually costs at least 3000 dollars to have a grand piano dissembled and moved, but we had mine moved by professional piano movers for only 450 dollars. That was such a blessing. I prayed about it and called around back in Illinois. God had to have led me to call a listing that was still active online, but when I called, it turned out to be a retired piano mover, but he referred me to one of his associates that was still in business and since it was a referral from the retired piano mover they moved it for almost nothing. It is in our storage waiting to be moved into our own home. That part will be easy and cheap. What a blessing!!!!
As for the rest of our furniture, I wish I had gotten a picture of it. We literally had a transfer truck sized load with all of our furniture and boxes. I didn't know we had so many physical things. They are just physical things, but I guess they are needs...as Joseph said, we have to have furniture. :-)
ARRIVAL in GEORGIA
We rented an old renovated farmhouse for 2 months as we are buying and wanted a bit of time to figure out which side of town we wanted to buy on. Here are a few pics of our 2-month rental. We hear roosters crowing every morning. Very country.
A lot of open farmland with pecan orchards, peach orchards, olive tree orchards, and a lot of other farmed land. Big irrigation systems everywhere.
One of the things that I personally love is that we are only 1.5 hours from the coast of Georgia which translates to beach and the Atlantic Ocean! Savannah is 1 hour and 20 minutes from us, and the Georgia coastal island of Tybee is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from us. There are more coastal islands like Jekyll Island which was an old WCG feast site way back in the day which is about 2 hours from us. We have been to Savannah twice. We live in Vidalia, Georgia and we love being in the country, but the city and the beach are in reach. I feel like we have the best of all things except no mountains. :-)
In Vidalia and even on our way to services you see palm trees randomly everywhere since we are so close to the coast....you see the in-peoples yards, in front of stores...ETC....Here are some pics that I took of how palm trees are seem scattered here in and near Vidalia.
Georgia woods are big which means lumber mills....
